Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Virginia Cavaliers: News, Predictions and Poll

It’s that time. Well, a day and a half early. Kickoff is Friday at Noon. The program has been quiet. The recoveries from the food comas of Thanksgiving 2019 are almost faded, and the Hokies are ready for the Commonwealth Cup Game. It’s for the Orange Bowl, folks... GO HOKIES!!!

Last year just before the big game. Different team this season, different place to play.
John Schneider - SB Nation

No one on September 29th would have told you that the Virginia Tech Hokies would be playing the Virginia Cavaliers for more than pride. The game tomorrow is for the Commonwealth Cup, the Coastal Championship, and a very probable Orange Bowl bid. Both teams won’t make more than the trip to Florida this New Year’s week, but a shot at a first tier bowl is an amazing feat given our supine position at the end of September.

Let’s take a look at the news for the week.

The BeamerBall Awards

Two players just stood out for their effort so much, they have each been awarded the 25.

Dalton “Rambo” Keene and Rayshard “Rook” Ashby will both be wearing the #25 for the UVA Game.

There was an ACC Team of the Week named... Guess who?

Rayshard Ashby is the ACC Linebacker of the Week, again.

Bryan Manning

Bryan is having Thanksgiving with his family, he’s going to check in later this evening.

Nathan Reynolds

Still waiting to see if Nathan checks in. Hoping the holiday didn’t blur the memory that he’s got a prediction to send up.

John Schneider

This is actually the most difficult prediction that I have made this season. The Wahoos are so close to beating us. TOO Close, but they have Bryce Perkins for this season, and they are going to be really hot to stop the winning streak, more hot to avenge last season’s comeback OT win by the Hokies, and spoiling to win their first divisional championship... in like forever. That means all the stops will be out. The Commonwealth Cup, the Coastal, and the Orange Bowl are at stake for both teams. If Tech keeps up the energy, pace, and quality of play, they’ll win this one by a bout a touchdown.

Hokes 32 - Wahoos - 28

Now it’s your turn to chime in.

Nothing Fancy. No scenarios. Just simple stuff.

This game is so complex and yet so simple. We win or they win, that is all.
