Yesterday, reporters flocked towards dubbing UMBC’s Ryan Odom as the Hokies’ Buzz Williams replacement. The day before, it was Seton Hall’s Kevin Willard. Neither coach finished the day in Chicago maroon and burnt orange.
But today, the reports have become clearer and negotiations have advanced significantly between Whit Babcock and Wofford head coach Mike Young per multiple reports from reputable sources.

A native of Radford, Va., Young spent the last 30 years of his coaching career with the Wofford Terriers. Since 2002, he had been the head honcho of the basketball program, accumulating a 299-244 (.551) win-loss mark. However, the majority of Young’s success has come this decade, with five NCAA tournament appearances, five Southern Conference championships, and three NCAA tournament victories. This past year was the Terriers’ and Young’s best, with a 30-5 record and the first AP Top 25 spot in program history heading into March.

UPDATE: The announcement is official. Mike Young is a Hokie. Per the press release, in Young’s words:
“On behalf of my entire family, we are humbled and honored to serve asthe stewards of the men’s basketball program at Virginia Tech,” Young said. “We are extremely grateful to President Sands and Whit forextending this opportunity to us that we will embrace with greatfervor and enthusiasm. I’ve long admired Virginia Tech from afar forits principles, as well as for the ability of its athletic programs toconsistently win with integrity. I can’t wait to meet ourstudent-athletes, support staff and fans as we prepare to get to workin Blacksburg.”
