Virginia Tech Hokies vs. ODU Monarchs: Post Game Podcast

Bryan and John talk over their impressions of the ODU Game. It was the first game of the season at Lane Stadium. It was a beautiful breezy day and the outcome was a very desirable win even if some folks seem to be tuned to look for bad news everywhere. Let’s see what you think. We’ll let most of the podcast speak for itself, but it’s important to remember that we are not Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, or Michigan... and oh.. in case you absolutely hated the win, today, because it wasn’t a massive blowout, well take a look at plucky Army taking the Wolverines into double overtime before Michigan just snuck by....

This team is super young. We started at least THREE true freshman and more than several Redshirt Freshman on Offense. Reggie Floyd was the only Senior on the Defense; and I think Oscar Bradburn is the old man of special teams.

There are some things that really need to get fixed, and unless they do soon, will come back to haunt us. We are also bothered by the poor quality of the officiating in this one. Several penalties were called on Tech that were completely uncalled for. Several penalties weren’t called on ODU that should have, including the helmet to helmet targeting hit on Ryan Willis that caused him to lose control of the football. The defense got the stop again, but Willis was benched for the remainder of the game... and was seen repeatedly rolling his head around.. and almost looked disconnected.

We sent Kat into the stands to be with the Hokie Faithful in the North End Zone. (Please don’t mind our weird little stick camera’s tendency to forget the date). It was the first game for the Class of 2023. They’ll be back.
