Syracuse has always been more of a basketball than football school. The ‘Orange’ were more than a challenge, even though their record was a bit tighter at 8-6 than ours. The Hokies traveled to Western New York to a venue that has always been a serious problem for us, both on the football field and the basketball court. Well, that history didn’t seem to matter to a team full of freshmen. Hokies come away with a solid win against an ACC opponent and its on the road, too. The points guys evaluating tournament invitations like those kinds of victories.

The victory was another difference making bench performance; this time by Jalen Cone who led the Hokies in scoring for the evening with 19. Landers Nolley II also came up with another grade A performance with double digits (13), four assists, and five boards. PJ Horne also hit double digits with 12 points.
We’ll follow up with the three things review, this afternoon, but for now, we can smile about being back to .500 in the ACC, nabbing a convincing comeback road win, and smiling that our bench is a serious part of Mike Young’s team.
