The Virginia Tech Hokies announced several promotions for the upcoming 2020 home schedule on Thursday. These promotions are generally centered around if the game will be an Orange Effect, Maroon Effect or White Effect, meaning the crowd is supposed to be unified in one color.

The first promotion — and the biggest — will be for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Penn State comes to Blacksburg on Sept. 12 and is undoubtedly the biggest game on the schedule for the Hokies. It will be a Stripe the Stadium game. That means Lane Stadium will be striped in orange and maroon for the game and stripe shirts will go on sale beginning this spring.

That should an amazing environment.

The game against North Alabama on Sept. 26 will be Military Appreciation Day. In the past, we’ve seen the Hokies do some cool things to honor our brave men and women in service.

Georgia Tech will be a Maroon Effect game on October 3. This is also Homecoming. The Boston College game on October 22 will be an Orange Effect. The Hokies have Hall-of-Fame Day on Nov. 14 when Miami comes to town and, of course, Senior Day to end the season when Virginia comes to Blacksburg.

So, Hokies, how are you feeling about the home slate in 2020? It is certainly better than the 2019 schedule, especially with a Penn State team coming to Lane Stadium that should be ranked in the Top 10.
