Hokie Basketball fans are feeling good after that ACC win on Wednesday night. After another losing streak Tech shined against Clemson, picking up their 16th win of the season. But how confident were fans feeling back on Monday when the latest SB Nation FanPulse survey went out?

We missed last week’s update, so a quick word on that. Last week 89% of VT voters were positive about the program, up from 80% the week before, which was a season low. This week’s poll went out following the close loss to UVA and the weekend defeat at Louisville.

Week 15 - Hokies are looking forward to the 2020 season

Fresh off the 16 point loss to Louisville, Tech fans still saw the potential of the future. 92% of voters said they were confident in the direction of the Hokies program. That is up 12% over the past two weeks despite being on a four game losing streak. That speaks to seeing past the defeats, recognizing the developing talent under Mike Young, and the strong support the team has.

Virginia Tech’s results have now been at or above 90% for 11 of the 14 weeks this year.

National Questions

So who is your National Coach of the Year? That was the lead question in this week’s survey and it’s safe to say voters are split. Dayton’s Anthony Grant led with around 20% of the vote, but how much of that is down to Obi Toppin’s dominance? Second place went to ‘Other’, while the next three coaches all received between 13 and 17% each.

The second question to go out to the wider audience this week was a check in to see who people thought was the best team in the ACC. There has been a clear divide between the top three and the rest of the conference for most of the year, but who holds the top spot has continually changed. This week over half the voters went with Florida State. We should be in for an entertaining ACC Tournament.

The final two perfect 100% records finally fell this week. Up through 13 weeks of the survey fans of Duke and Colorado remained fully confident in the direction of their programs. However, week 14 finally saw both dip below the perfect mark. When it comes to college sports, and especially in basketball this season, everyone has room for improvement.
