The Virginia Tech Hokies head to Greensboro, NC this week for the annual ACC Basketball Tournament, set to face the University of North Carolina in one of the two opening round match-ups. Tuesday’s early game features 12-seed Wake Forest against 13-seed Pittsburgh, before your Hokies (11-seed) face off against UNC (14-seed) who have had a historically bad year for the storied program. Note, Georgia Tech is sitting out of this year’s postseason as part of a recent NCAA violation.
Congratulations to Landers Nolley who made the ACC All-Freshman team and received honorable mention for the All-ACC team. A remarkable debut season for Nolley and likely the first of many honors if he sticks around for a few more years.

It took Tech double-overtime to top UNC back in late January at home and Tuesday’s contest should be just as difficult. While North Carolina has had a brutal season by their standards, the ACC Tournament provides an opportunity for them to finish on a high note. Meanwhile, the Hokies could be a late NIT addition if they could put together a few ACC Tournament wins. A loss ends likely ends Mike Young’s debut season in Blacksburg, which has proven to already be a strong rebuilding year as the program moves on from the Buzz Williams years.
The winner of Tuesday’s game goes on to face 6-seed Syracuse on Wednesday night at 9 pm ET.
