The Virginia Tech Hokies picked up their third commitment in less than two weeks on Wednesday night when three-star running back Chance Black picked the good guys.

Black, at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, is being recruited as an athlete by the Hokies. He is from Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C.
Virginia Tech was Black’s first offer back last June when he came to Blacksburg for a camp. The coaching staff loved his athleticism and offered. He is not considered a traditional running back as the coaching staff sees him as a player they can move around the offense from the backfield to the slot and split out wide.
Overall, Black has 10 offers at the moment. However, if this were a traditional offseason where players could visit and teams could hold camps, then Black’s offer list would rise. He is an extremely talented athlete.
Make no mistake, Blake was always a priority for this staff. The entire coaching staff was fired up after Black made it official on Wednesday.

Year after year, fans panic when the Hokies fail to land the big fish. And rightfully so. Recruiting must continue to improve and that’s on the coaching staff and, quite frankly, the entire university. But let’s not diminish the kids who Virginia Tech gets.
In the past 12 days, Tech has received commitments from three talented football players. All who can make an impact in Blacksburg early in their respective careers.
That is worth celebrating.
Let’s stop judging this class based off Dematrius Davis. In reality, we knew he would never sign with Virginia Tech. There is still almost seven months until the early signing period — and that could change.
The Hokies will add more talented players in this class. Ultimately, the 2020 teams needs to win on the field this fall.
With the commitment of Black, Virginia Tech moves up to No. 49 in 247Sports team rankings. One spot behind Alabama. Yes, you read that correctly. I told you it was early.
Black was another good pickup for the Hokies.
