The Virginia Tech Hokies were originally scheduled to open the season on Sept. 12 in Blacksburg against North Carolina State.
COVID-19 had other plans and N.C. State paused athletic activities, moving the game back two weeks to Virginia Tech’s first open date. Of course, this past weekend, Virginia Tech faced a similar situation and was forced to do the same against Virginia.
So, officially, the Hokies now open the 2020 season on Sept. 26 in Blacksburg against the N.C. State Wolfpack.
The game will kick off at 8 PM ET and be televised on the ACC Network.

The Wolfpack will open their season this weekend as they host Wake Forest in Raleigh.
Virginia Tech and N.C. State last met in 2015 with the Hokies winning 28-13 in Blacksburg.
Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 27-18-4. The two teams have met five times since the Hokies began ACC play back in 2004. The Wolfpack won the first meeting, while the Hokies have won the past four.
