Well, our first big preview podcast and we had nothing much to preview. There were some events that needed to be discussed, and the ACC has actually started playing football, not that we’d have known that. Our first game is going to be against the North Carolina State Wolfpack at 8:00 PM on September 26th. That’s nearly a full month after our usual start, and has been due to two COVID hits, one on NC State’s part, and the next by mutual agreement between UVA and Tech. It seems to have been related to a post matriculation positive test increase on the Blacksburg campus. We were getting some grief for it, but UVA is now going through an increase of their own roughly two weeks after they started classes. It just seems to be an unfortunate feature of this season.
GAME WEEK Has Started
The Hokies are healthy, and ready to get their normal game week activities started. They just had their first (well 2nd first) NC State focused practice session and officially opened the week with a notice.

It’s pretty important, too. NC State opened this weekend against Wake Forest, and though Wake started a little shaky, the Demon Deacons made it a real game. The Decons and Wolfpack were tied 21 a piece at the half, and then 35 a piece at the end of the third quarter. Wake was leading by the last 1⁄3 rd of the fourth quarter, 42-38 when the Wolfpack managed to put a touchdown drive together, and then their defense managed to stop Wake from scoring in the final five minutes. Still it’s something that the Hokie coaching staff will be going over with the team, in detail. There wasn’t a ton of defense in that game, but both teams managed an 87 over/under and that much offense is significant. The Hokie D is going to have to come up large, and do it cold. We’ll be facing a bloodied, Wolfpack, and the home field advantage is nil due to the lack of a crowd in the stands. We’ll talk about it coming up this week, but it’s going to be a really tough opener.
Polls
Well, the Polls came out this afternoon, and the Hokies have the #20 locked in with the AP sports writers.

The USA Today Amway/Coaches’ Poll is a bit less charitable, with us ranked #24, but that’s pretty fair considering we haven’t been seen on an actual football field against an actual opponent, yet.
Talking Turkey
So, check in with Bryan and John for the summary of the 2nd week of college football for the Hokies.
So, the game on Saturday is going to be at 8:00 PM, and we are streaming it. I still have to find a tray to put the laptop up in the living room because all three Hokies in the household want to see the game. It’s going to be the first full weekend of Fall, (Tuesday is the first day of Fall 2020). Blacksburg is predicted to have cool temps in the evening ranging in the 50’s (Right, like they can predict the weather accurately more than three days in advance. But, we can hope, okay?)
