Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente flirted with the Baylor job in January, in part due to a lack of resources for the Hokies. It wasn’t that Fuente wanted the Baylor job, but wanted to show the Virginia Tech’s administration he needed some help.
Help he was promised.
Throughout this offseason, Fuente is slowly receiving some help. The additions of former players Jeron Gouveia-Winslow and Corey Fuller were a great start.
This week, Fuente added yet another staff member when the Hokies hired Alex White to serve as the director of on-campus recruiting.
Welcome to Hokie Nation!

White comes to Blacksburg from Appalachian State where she served as the football operations and recruiting assistant. In her previous role, she was also responsible for on-campus recruiting, team travel, scheduling for the head coach and also defensive film evaluations.
Earlier this year, she was one of 40 women chosen by the NFL to attend the Combine as a part of league’s Women’s Careers in Football Forum.
She is a 2020 graduate of the University of North Carolina where she also worked with UNC’s recruiting coordinator and served as a football intern.
She also served an internship with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
Excited to join @HokiesFB as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting!!

So thankful for this opportunity to be a Hokie. #ThisIsHome#Hokies pic.twitter.com/Dbj8HRCMNX
White will bring youth and experience to Virginia Tech. This is another shrewd hire by Fuente. The Hokies need help on the recruiting front and White can lead the department and schedule on-campus recruiting for visitors while the coaches work on the football side of things.
She will work closely with director of player personnel Mark Diethorn and director of recruiting John Iezzi.
Welcome to Blacksburg, Alex.
