The No. 16 Virginia Tech Hokies (11-2, 5-1) were slated to host the Boston College Eagles (3-10. 1-6) in ACC play on Wednesday evening.
Unfortunately for the Hokies, Wednesday’s game isn’t happening due to a COVID-19 outbreak at Boston College.
Someone in the Boston College program tested positive for COVID-19, meaning the team will be in quarantine as the school goes through contact tracing.
It is the second time the Hokies have missed a game due to COVID-19. Earlier this month, Tech’s trip to Charlottesville to face Virginia was postponed. No makeup date has been announced for either game.
The timing of this is tough for the Hokies. Head coach Mike Young’s team, is on a roll, having won three in a row and seven of its last eight games.
Virginia Tech’s next scheduled game is a trip to Syracuse on Saturday to face the Orange.
The Hokies are currently a half-game behind archrival Virginia for first place in the ACC.
