It’s a great time to be a basketball fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies. For the men’s team, head coach Mike Young has the Hokies in the NCAA Tournament in just his second year as head coach.

On Sunday, the Hokies learned they would be playing the Florida Gators in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

Now, the women are going dancing.

On Monday, the NCAA revealed the women’s brackets and the Lady Hokies are a No. 7 seed in the River Walk Region and will face 10th-seeded Marquette on Sunday. The game will is scheduled to tip at noon ET.

This is Kenny Brooks’ fifth season as head coach of the women’s team. It is the first time his squad will play in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the Hokies would’ve made the field last year. Tech had a 21-9 record when the season was canceled.

Brooks won 20 or more games in each of his first four seasons in Blacksburg and finished 14-9 this season.

Coach Young took to Twitter to congratulate the Lady Hokies.

Congratulations to both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. It’s a good time to be a Hokie.
