The Virginia Tech baseball team was on a roll two weeks ago after an ACC sweep at Wake Forest. The Hokies led the ACC Coastal by two games and looked to finish the season on a strong note.

Then an 8-2 loss to Liberty happened and put the Hokies into a tailspin. Virginia Tech would lose six of its next eight games to fall to 21-15 on the season, with a 15-12 mark in ACC play.

The Pitt Panthers are now on top in the Coastal with a 14-10 record in ACC play.

Now, it’s time for the Hokies to regroup. Virginia Tech has 15 games remaining in the 2021 college baseball season, including nine games left in league play. Virginia Tech is back in action on Tuesday when East Tennessee State makes the trip up I-81 for one quick game at English Field.

The Hokies then have a big series against rival Virginia in Blacksburg that begins on Friday.

So, while some of the results may be disappointing recently, remember, it’s baseball. Even in college, the baseball season is long, and you aren’t going to remain hot for the entire season. This Virginia Tech team has shown resiliency already in 2021, and there’s no reason to doubt the team now.

The Hokies still have a strong shot at postseason play, and they control their own destiny. That’s a good position to be in.
