The Virginia Tech Hokies were having an unbelievable season on the baseball field in 2021 until a late slide dropped them under .500 in ACC play.
While the 2021 season was still a successful one, a six-game losing streak at the end of the season was disappointing for a talented roster on the verge of big things. So now, the Hokies are in Charlotte for the 2021 ACC Baseball Championship.
But, before play begins in the ACC baseball tournament, postseason awards went out Monday, and Virginia Tech freshman Gavin Cross had a big day. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound outfielder from Virginia High in Bristol, Tennessee, was named First-Team All-ACC. Cross was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
