The Virginia Tech Hokies and the North Carolina Tar Heels will kick off their 2021 season on Friday, Sept. 3. Now, we know the time.
The ACC announced times for the first three weeks of games on Thursday and the VT/UNC game from Blacksburg will begin at 6 p.m. ET.
A 6 p.m. ET kickoff on a Friday is strange, but it should still allow plenty of time for Lane Stadium to fill up for the first time in almost two years. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Virginia Tech’s Week 2 opponent, Middle Tennessee State comes to Blacksburg on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. That game will begin at 2 p.m. ET.

One of the more exciting games on Virginia Tech’s 2021 schedule is a trip to West Virginia. The two old rivals battle in Week 3 when the Hokies make the trip to Morgantown. That game will begin at noon on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Mountaineers will have former Virginia Tech offensive lineman, Doug Nester, in the lineup after his transfer to WVU in the offseason.
Virginia Tech and West Virginia will be live on FS1.
The ACC also announced Virginia Tech’s game at Boston College on Nov. 5, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and be televised on ESPN2.
We can officially begin the countdown to Virginia Tech’s season-opener against UNC. It is just 99 days away.
