With spring practice in the rearview mirror and around two months remaining until fall camp, there isn’t much going on in Blacksburg other than recruiting.

So, recently, Virginia Tech’s official website released updated jersey numbers for the 2021 roster, including newcomers and returnees, per Matej Sis of 247Sports.

Here are some of the new numbers:

  • 1 — S Chamarri Conner
  • 2 — CB Jermaine Waller
  • 3 — DT Norell Pollard
  • 4 — QB Connor Blumrick
  • 6 — DT Josh Fuga
  • 7 — RB Marco Lee
  • 9 — WR Tayvion Robinson
  • 11 — DE Amare Barno
  • 13 — DB Ny’Quee Hawkins
  • 14 — Jaden Payoute
  • 21 — CB Nadir Thompson
  • 22 — DT Mario Kendricks
  • 23 — RB Keshawn King
  • 26 — RB Jordan Brunson
  • 32 — RB Tahj Gary
  • 77 — OT Derrell Bailey Jr.

And, here are some of the new numbers for the newcomers.

  • 15 — QB Tahj Bullock
  • 17 — S Tae Daley
  • 18 — WR Da’Wain Lofton
  • 20 — CB DJ Harvey
  • 26 — DB Jalen Stroman
  • 59 — DT Jordan Williams

Obviously, those are just some of the newcomers and their jersey numbers. The McDonald twins — Jayden and Jorden — from nearby Salem High will wear No. 38 and No. 39, respectively.

Of the returning players, Conner looks sharp in that No. 1 jersey. He agrees.

Also, seeing Pollard and Fuga in those single-digit numbers is slick. I like seeing the big guys in those jerseys. Starting wideout Tayvion Robinson also gets a new number for 2021.

Of the newcomers, I expect big things out of Lofton, Harvey and Stroman as true freshmen this fall. Daley and Williams are veterans who will make an immediate impact.

The season can’t get here fast enough.
