Virginia Tech offensive lineman Brock Hoffman hopes to follow in the footsteps of Christian Darrisaw and land in the NFL draft in 2022.
The 6-foot-3, 317-pound senior from Statesville, North Carolina, is the leader of the “Vice Squad.” That is the nickname of Virginia Tech’s offensive line, coached by Vance Vice.
Hoffman started every game for the Hokies last fall after being forced to sit out in 2019 due to the NCAA’s selective transfer rules. He helped lead the Hokies to their best rushing season of the Justin Fuente-era, as Tech averaged over 240 yards rushing per game. He was twice selected as the ACC’s offensive lineman of the week.
Earlier this week, Hoffman was named to the watch list for the prestigious Outland Trophy — given annually to college football’s top interior lineman.
On Thursday, Hoffman was named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy, which is awarded to a student-athlete for his service to the community.
During his time with the Hokies, Hoffman has mentored students at Prices Fork Elementary School in Blacksburg, as well as in his hometown in North Carolina. Hoffman has also worked with the Special Olympics and helped organize a book drive and cacrd-writing campaign to Richfield Senior Living in Salem, Virginia.
Last week, Hoffman was nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which is considered one of the more prestigious community service awards for student-athletes.
Congrats, Brock.
