The Virginia Tech Hokies have been scorching hot on the recruiting trail. Since the dead period was lifted on June 1, the Hokies have been in the middle of a recruiting surge. And, they are adding some talented kids, too.

Now, Virginia Tech could be closing in on its biggest commitment to date. Four-star running back Ramon Brown is scheduled to make his decision on Friday, July 9. He previously listed a top five of Penn State, West Virginia, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia Tech. He used all five of his official visits in June to those schools.

His last visit was to Blacksburg on the last weekend of June.

Here’s what Brown told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports about his visit to Blacksburg.

“A lot of good things,” Brown said. “I have a great relationship with the coaches and players. It’s a great facility, great strength coaches, and everyone around there is like a great family environment.”

Virginia Tech director of player personnel, Mark Diethorn, created a stir when he tweeted an image of former pro wrestler Razor Ramon after Brown visited Blacksburg.

Brown uses the hashtag #razorramon for several of his tweets.

Brown would be a huge addition to Virginia Tech’s 2022 class. The running back from Manchester High in Midlothian was once viewed as a sure thing for Penn State, but recent momentum could favor the Hokies.

Hopefully, we have more good news on Friday.
