After going two weeks without a commitment, the Virginia Tech Hokies struck again on Sunday.
Defensive tackle D’Andre Martin announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon. Martin released his commitment video on Twitter. Check it out; it’s really well done.

Martin is a 6-foot-3 1/2, 295-pound defensive lineman from Life Christian Academy in Chester, Virginia. He is originally from Durham, North Carolina. He chose the Hokies over South Carolina. Martin had picked up recent offers from Duke, Tennessee and Florida State.
Like many of the other players in the 2022 recruiting class, I love this pickup for the Hokies. And they beat an SEC school for Martin’s commitment.
Martin originally visited Blacksburg in June once the NCAA dead period was lifted, where the Hokies offered him a scholarship. He came back to Blacksburg in July, not long before his commitment. In total, he was at Virginia Tech three times this summer.
Martin is a fast-rising prospect who has grown considerably over the course of his high school career. Originally a wide receiver, Martin packed on the muscle, moved over to the defensive line, and camped at multiple schools. The size, paired with his athleticism, makes him an intriguing prospect at the next level.
Martin is commitment No. 20 in Virginia Tech’s 2022 recruiting class. He is expected to play defensive tackle in college.
Welcome to Blacksburg, D’Andre.
