The Virginia Tech Hokies added another solid piece to the 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday when three-star defensive back Mansoor Delane made his college decision.
Delane, a 6-foot-1, 178-pound DB from Archbishop Spalding in Severn, Maryland, picked the Hokies over his home-state Maryland Terrapins. Maryland was long thought to be the choice, but the Hokies were aggressive recently in their pursuit of Delane, and it paid off with Tech landing another talented defensive back.
Delane has good size and should begin his college career at cornerback.
Delane told Brian Dohn of 247Sports why he chose the Hokies.
“It’s the genuine relationships I have there,” Delane said. “They recruited me the longest and the hardest from the start. Everyone always says to go where you are loved, and that is where I was most loved at.”

Defensive coordinator Justin Hamilton and cornerbacks coach Ryan Smith did a terrific job here. Delane was essentially locked up to the Terps and Hamilton and Smith worked hard to get him to Virginia Tech.
Tech gets a good player in Delane who can help early in his career.
Virginia Tech has the No. 15 recruiting class in 2022, per 247Sports, with 21 commitments.
Welcome to Blacksburg, Mansoor.
