Could the Hokies be about to reel in another four-star prospect this weekend?

Cornerback Cam Johnson of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore announced this week he was making his college decision on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

A 6-foot-1, 165-pound cornerback, Johnson is expected to choose between Virginia Tech, Boston College and Maryland. Boston College and Virginia Tech have the only predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. The Hokies now lead in the Crystal Ball forecast.

If Johnson commits to Virginia Tech, he would be the second Maryland defensive back to commit to the Hokies this week. Mansoor Delane chose the Hokies over Maryland on Wednesday. Delane is from Severn, Maryland, and the two players do know one another.

Johnson would be a big get for the Hokies, who picked up two four-star recruits last month in Ramon Brown and Gunner Givens.

Virginia Tech’s 2022 recruiting class currently has 21 commits, which ranks No. 14 in the 247Sports team composite rankings.
