Men’s Soccer

Well! The Hokies certainly made a splash on Sunday when they defeated then No. 1 Marshall, 3-2, during their second match at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational! At the half Virginia Tech was blanked and trailing by two. They took over during the second half and scored three goals while holding the Thundering Herd scoreless. The victory pulled the men’s team, previously No. 15, into the No. 10 spot! Next, VT travels to Raleigh for the NC State Tournament. There the list of challenging opponents will grow when they face Central Florida (Friday) and No. 20 Seton Hall (Monday). The Hokies improve to 1-1 on the season. Congratulations and well-done gentleman!

Women’s Soccer

After smashing Elon, 7-1, the ladies of Virginia Tech fell to the Cincinnati Bearcats, 2-1. Despite surpassing the Bearcats shots and shots-on-goal the Cincinnati defense held off the Hokies after a lightning delay. Next up VT travels to Harrisonburg to participate in the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. Awaiting them is in-state rival JMU (Thursday) and Santa Clara (Sunday). The Hokies are now 3-1 on the season. Solid work to open the season!

Volleyball

The Hokies opened the season as hosts during the Virginia Tech Invitational, where they swept the field, defeating Lehigh (3-2), Toledo (3-0), and Elon (3-1)! After blasting off to a 3-0 record, the ladies of VT volleyball will push to Jacksonville, FL for the UNF Invitational. There they will face Georgia State (Friday), North Florida (Friday), and Davidson (Saturday). You can catch the match-up with North Florida on ESPN+! Great start to the season and a solid improvement over last year’s first three games which saw VT start 1-2.

Cross Country Track and Field

The Hokies start their season this evening, in Blacksburg, at the Virginia Tech Invitational! The preseason rankings have the VT cross country efforts ranked No. 11 in the nation! Go get ‘em!

Great work and best of luck going ahead! As always…

GO HOKIES!!!
