Well folks, we are back and talking again! It’s been a bit over a year, and Gobbler Country’s Talking Turkey is back on the air and jawing about Virginia Tech Sports. This episode Bryan, Jay, and John get welcomed back into the mix, and start up with a first review of football. Tune in and listen. GO HOKIES!!!

There will be lots to unpack, but the schedule for the 2021 season is out (minus times as usual) and one weird Thursday/Friday tweedle, but it’s something to start reviewing. Bryan and John talk schedule generalities. GO HOKIES!!!

Bryan and John talk about the basketball season to date. Reminder that this was recorded before the unfortunate set of events leading up to the Radford suspension and the disheartening Syracuse loss.
So, Joshua and John finish the football wrap-up conversation by looking at the issues involved in the Transfer Portal and some of the potential impacts of the NIL issue.
Bryan was taking some holiday time, so Joshua filled in for a few sessions as we wrap up the final closing moves of 2020’s Hokie Football Follies and look at a few things as we move down the road.
Redemption Saturday? Perhaps. The Hokies and an empty, cold Lane Stadium host the Virginia Cavaliers for their annual brew-ha-ha.. and bragging rights to the Commonwealth Cup. The Hokies are wounded and in a downward spiral. The Hoos are on an upswing. Can the Hokies muster the pride to keep the cup in Blacksburg or is it just a visit?
It’s Commonwealth Cup week, but we still have to wrap up the Clemson game. It wasn’t all bad, and for a half we were hanging in there. Then disaster happened and we ended up with no offense - and it had been performing respectably. We’ll go over some of the notices and updates, too. GO HOKIES!!!!
With nothing but pride at stake, And Clemson just cinching up the #2 seed in the Fake ACC Fake Championship against Notre Dame - who will scrape the ACC goo off it’s shoes next season, the Hokies take to Worsham Field - you can smell it in the air. We won’t say what ‘it’ is... GO HOKIES!!! (Beat the Spread)
Bryan and John are joined by Jawhar to go over the two big wins this past weekend. Tech’s surprise upset victory over Villanova, and it’s pull away put away of the USF Bulls look like they’ve attracted some serious attention. The Hokies are ranked this week. That’s a complete surprise and nice news. GO HOKIES!!!

Bryan and John talk about the up coming Pitt game. It’s been a pins and needles sort of wait to see if it would even make the schedule. But it looks like things are brewing, and the team is on the way to Pittsburgh to the ‘Big Ketchup’ to play one of our old Big East nemesis teams. Comment, take the poll, and get ready. GO HOKIES!!!!

The Flames from Liberty University are coming with their Head Coach Hugh Freeze’s influence and coaching changing the character of the team from a good scrimmage to a full on contest with a 25th AP ranked team. The Hokies head out to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to BB&T Stadium to take on the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest for their second in the Atlantic/Coastal crossover variable Home/Home game. Bryan and John look at the teams and how this is going to be an interesting football game. The results will definitely mean something this season. GO HOKIES!!!
The Hokies showed up and thumped the Boston College Eagles pretty hard. Bryan and John go over the game, and talk a bit about Wake Forest next weekend. Oh, and some folks got noticed after last weekend. GO HOKIE!!!
Talking Turkey goes over the Boston College game, the BC Offense is going to be a problem to solve, and the Tech Offense needs to score lots of points. Special Guest Host Jay Johnson joins John to talk over the game and makes some predictions. GO HOKIES!!!!
Special guest host Jay Johnson makes a return appearance to join Bryan and John as they go over the Carolina loss. There weren’t all bad things, no team scores 45 points and loses without bright spots, but moral victories are not W’s. GO HOKIES!!!
It’s Friday morning! The day before the big game. Carolina is 2-0 just like we are, except that they keep running bye weeks. Their wins haven’t been anything to write home about, and there is a whole lot of smoke and sunshine going on. Hokies have a peer challenge, and need to rise to the occasion. Bryan and John go over the particulars. GO HOKIES!!!!

BIG UPDATE! The Defensive Backfield has taken a serious COVID related hit. We are a touch late on the podcast, there were a few issues in recording, but we got it in. Virginia Tech travels to Raleigh-Durham to seek some serious revenge against the struggling Blue Devils. Bryan and John go over the high points, and make predictions. Take the Poll... GO HOKIES!!!
