Virginia Tech softball: Hokies survive Miami (OH) to advance to regional final for rematch vs. Kentucky
The Hokies lost a heartbreaker to Kentucky earlier on Saturday.
The Hokies are the No. 3 national seed.
Now the Hokies look toward an NCAA championship.
It’s the middle of January, and that means preparations get underway for the start of the College Baseball and Softball Seasons. My coverage last year got cut a bit short due to the unfortunate need to take a break, but we are about to start coverage for the 2022 effort.
The Bruins took two out of three from the Hokies.
The Hokies and Bruins play tonight in Game 2.
The Hokies advance for only the second time in school history.
We were hoping to get some pictures this weekend. The first game was a probable rainout but the weather looked like a shift to an afternoon set would work. So it was a shock last evening to see the postponement.
It’s been a while, so it’s time to restart the Hokie non-revenue sport roundup. Normally this is a Jay operation, but he’s out defending the country, and we still need to report on as many Hokie Athletic events as we can. SO LET’S GO HOKIES!!!
Get ready for all day Hokies content.
In our 30 podcast show, Bryan and John talk about the end of the season for all of the ACC Sports. The Baseball and Softball teams were flying. The Wrestlers missed out on the ACC Tournament and the NCAAs. The Women’s Basketball team also missed out on their probable NCAA tournament shot.
The Softball team ends its season with a 2-2 in the Lexington Regionals. The Baseball team finishes one game below .500, but does win its final game against the Wahoos. Miracle turnarounds and steady rebuild progress for the big Spring sports programs. GO HOKIES!!!
Well, things are still moving along, and one thing that is moving well is the Virginia Tech Hokie Softball Team. First, they take their 1st tournament game, then a pile get named to post season recognition teams. The Baseball team, takes a 6/6 tie into the 11th but couldn’t get a run across.
Friday is Commencement Day. Classes ended last Wednesday, and exams are formally over and the final grades for the semester were due in last evening. That means short of the last baseball series and the Softball team’s run at the NCAA Tournament GC goes into Summer content mode.
There were a few disappointments, not everything is wrapped up, but the Track and Field team triumphs again, and Cole Beck is looking like the fastest NCAA running back in History? We’ll see as we take a look on this cool damp Mother’s Day evening.
Tomorrow is Reading Day. It’s the final day of classes in the 2019 Spring Semester. The Students are wrapping it up after some serious partying (maybe panicky studying, too). The Softball team is about to head into the ACC Championships and maybe the NCAA Softball World Series. The baseball team has 4 more to try to stay above .500. The rest of Tech is just trying to pass.
The baseball team finds itself struggling to find the ball with their bats and drop 4, including being swept narrowly by Miami and another pitchers’ duel in Norfolk. The Softball team, on the other hand has just trounced the ACC for the regular season Coastal Championship. They wait for the ACC Championship game and then a shot at the College Softball World Series.
